Disability Services - Tertiary Education

All universities and TAFE institutions offer support services for students with a disability or ongoing medical condition. Many employ specialist disability support staff, for example, a Disability Liaison Officer or Disability Advisor.

University of Southern Queensland (USQ)

Disability Resources at USQ comprises a team of professional, technical and administrative staff who are committed to assisting you to achieve your full potential in your studies. The main goals of Disability Resources are to:

  • enable students with disabilities to have an equal opportunity in accessing and participating in university life;
  • minimise the impact of the student’s disability and provide them with the opportunity to perform to their potential;
  • promote and ensure the rights of students with disabilities as equal members of the University and broader community.

University of the Sunshine Coast (USC)

The University of the Sunshine Coast welcomes students who have a disability. Disability Support is committed to ensuring equity of access, participation and success in a receptive and supportive environment.

Students with a disability are strongly encouraged to make early contact with the Disability Services Officer who can provide practical advice and assistance about services and support available throughout the University.

James Cook University (JCU)

James Cook University has a strong commitment to the principle of Equal Opportunity and seeks to provide an environment that will minimise the effects of disability.

AccessAbility Services assists students with disabilities to achieve their academic goals and participate fully in university life. It offers a confidential support service for students studying with a temporary or permanent disability, injury, illness and/or health condition.

 

Griffith University

The principal role of Griffith University's Disabilities Service is to coordinate the services required by students with disabilities so that they can access and participate in the learning environment.

Students whose disability necessitates the organisation of specialised services are responsible for making early contact with the staff of the Disabilities Service.

Uni-Key Program is a free program operated by Student Equity Services to assist students to settle into the university environment and meet new people.

Queensland University of Technology (QUT)

QUT endeavours to provide full and equal access to learning and research for people with disabilities by providing a range of support services. Students with a disability are encouraged to contact Disability Services at the earliest possible time, to meet staff, learn about the services available to you and structure a service plan to meet your specific needs.

University of Queensland (UQ)

The University is committed to maximising opportunities for students with a disability, and has formed policies and procedures to support this commitment.
 
UQ offers a Disability Program to facilitate equitable academic access for students with disabilities (including temporary and chronic medical conditions).  Disability Advisers assist the University community to achieve an inclusive environment through consultation, liaison and provision of services and facilities for students. CQUniversity

CQUniversity is committed to creating an environment that will increase the opportunities for people with a disability to undertake study, by providing a supportive and non-discriminatory learning environment for students with disabilities.

We promote full and equal participation of all students and foster an environment free of discrimination and harassment.

Navigate CQUni provides the focal point for students, including the support for students with a disability or medical condition, financial support, and assisting students in the resolution of grievances.

 

 Central Queensland University

Bond University

Bond University's personalised attention is a feature of its teaching but also extends to its care for its students. To this end the university provides a group of staff to support students in every aspect of their study.

Students with a disability are encouraged to contact Student Services at the earliest possible time, to meet staff and learn about the services available to meet their study needs.

 

 

TAFE Queensland

With the right services, students with a disability can participate and achieve in vocational education and training. TAFE Institute Disability Services Officers provide information and assistance to students with a disability across all campuses.

Institute Disability Services officers work collaboratively with students to identify their support requirements. Students who believe their studies may be affected by a disability should contact the TAFE Disability Services Officer available at each TAFE Queensland Institute.

 

 

Australian Agricultural College Corporation

The AACC provides a safe, close and supportive community, which is committed to nurturing and developing the social and personal competencies of all. The Manager of Student Services is available to provide information and support to all students with a disability.  It is preferable that students make contact with the Manager Student Services for a confidential appointment prior to enrolment.
